Our Work

Our Areas Of Focus

High-Quality Schools

We support the expansion of high-quality public and charter schools in South Carolina. By funding existing schools and recruiting regional and national school partners and operators, we aim to create 20,000 new student seats in schools with proven track records in student achievement by 2030. Examples of investments in this area of focus includes Compass Collegiate Academy in Charleston and Legacy Early College in Greenville.

High-Potential Talent Strategy and Pipelines

We invest in strategies to bolster ongoing efforts to attract and retain teachers, principals, and school systems leaders. We also support initiatives that develop teachers and teacher-leaders to serve high-need communities. An example of an investment in this area of focus is ExcelinEd.

High-Courage Advocacy and Awareness

We support and partner with organizations engaged in advocating for best practices in the education sector and those involved with driving awareness of existing challenges within the public education system. One example of an investment in this area of focus is the Education Lab at The Post and Courier.

High-Leverage Research and Development

We support innovative programs and educational solutions that strategically challenge the status quo in the public education system with an aim towards propelling students and families to new heights of educational and economic achievement. We engage in thoughtful conversation and learning opportunities to better understand what works, what can be improved, and how we can accomplish meaningful change. An example of an investment in this area of focus is GripTape.

High-Impact Community-Integrated Support Services

Because we believe in a holistic approach to facilitating educational and economic security and we understand the importance of communities growing alongside educational opportunity, we support economic security and mobility efforts that may serve as accelerants to educational and social change. One example of an investment in this area of focus is Communities in Schools of South Carolina.
